Do you Dwolla?

Have you heard about Dwolla yet?  We all love to support our local retailers, right?  Well, here’s a new way you can do just that!  Dwolla is a locally (Des Moines) produced way to pay at your favorite retailers.  It is similar to PayPal, but so much better in so many ways.  The way it is better for the consumer, is that it is just so easy!  If you have a smartphone, you just download the Dwolla app.  Then, you get a Dwolla account (it’s free!).  Then, you put money in your account.  Then, when you visit a retailer that accepts Dwolla, you just open the app on your phone and pay the amount due!

The way it’s great for retailers is, each transaction only costs $.25!  Compared to the rediculous fees that we pay on a daily basis for credit cards and PayPal, this is an amazing cost savings for us.  We pay an average of 2% per transaction every time we swipe your credit card.  With PayPal, we usually pay 3% and sometimes more!  Wow, Dwolla is a HUGE cost savings!!!

We currently are able to accept Dwolla in the store.  We have yet to figure out a way to integrate it with our website and we may end up having to switch to a new shopping cart provider.  :-(   But, we are working on it, so hopefully we can get it working soon!  Keep in mind that if you want to use Dwolla to pay for purchases at a retail location, you do need to have your Dwolla account pre-loaded with money first.  That way, there is no “clearing” time.

Please consider helping your local retailers by using Dwolla!!

Business Idea

So, have you ever been out with your kids and suddenly realize that it has been several hours since any of you have eaten and gosh, no wonder we’re all cranky!?!  You still have lots of errands to run and you didn’t bring any snacks with you (HATE it when this happens!).  So you do the only thing you can think of…you pull into the (insert unhealthy fast food restaurant name here) drive-thru.  It’s better than nothing…right?

So here’s my business idea for someone out there with enough energy to do it.  I want a fast food restaurant that serves locally grown beef and veggies and anything else you can think of that is better than fries that never decompose.  How hard would it really be to make hamburgers out of fresh beef, add some veggies and some kind of fresh fruit for sides?  Don’t give me the excuse of “Oh, no kid will actually eat the veggies”, because MY kids will and I know lots of other kids who will!!  My kids would actually prefer broccoli or carrots over french fries any day.  I even have the perfect location in mind for your new business.  The 42nd and University area!  So come on, who’s gonna do it?!?  Pretty please, for me?!?!  :-)
